# Cells Protection not available

I’m trying to protect cells by clicking Format - Cells and then click the Cell Protection tab.  
But this doesn’t work. So I read the helpguide in ‘Collabora Help’ and is instructed to go to the Tools - Protect sheets menu to protect the whole sheet, but there is no entry in my Tools menu.  
How can I solve it? Are there any external applications?

Hi ThatsMarco,

Your observation is correct.  
Cell protection is respected, but the UI to turn it on/off, needs to be added…

How can I activate it? Searching online in these hours I couldn’t find any answer, thanks to the forums 🥲

Sorry that my answer was almost but not fully clear 😉  
You can activate Sheet protection on desktop only currently. And that will work online.

For activating in Online, you should take a (deep?) dive here [https://collaboraonline.github.io/](https://collaboraonline.github.io/) 🙂
