Copy/paste with mouse not working

Collabora Office Desktop 25.04 was a good start. I like it very much because it was the only Microsoft Word alternative that was able to paste formatted text from ai queries fairly cleanly. Other alternatives made a mess. If you pasted 10 pages of copied ai in LibreOffice Writer or OnlyOffice Writer, you would get 80 pages of pasted duplicates of mixed-up copies. Microsoft Word and Collabora Office were the only word processors that would paste cleanly from a webpage full of ai discussions. However, on 26.04.1.4 on Windows 11, I cannot paste anything at all using the mouse. What is going on? I tried it on three different Windows 11 installations - all with the same result – Paste does not work (yes, I am in editing mode not viewing mode). Paste does work with Ctrl-v but not with right-click of mouse. The Linux version (also 26.04.1.4), however, does allow pasting with either method. On Windows 11, can I go back to 25.04, or will it automatically “upgrade” to the broken 26.04 version? Thanks for all your work. I hope someday I will finally be able to stop my Microsoft Office subscription and migrate from Windows 11 to Linux. But it appears, not yet. So, I have a couple of my PCs on Linux while learning it and a couple on Windows 11. 90% of my time on a word processor is doing research via ai or webpages so clean pasting is essential for me, and “plain text” pasting is not an option - too time consuming to re-format.

for me it works but using mouse is somehow not intuitive. both Writer and Calc using mouse works but have an intermediate step:

  • choosing “paste” doesn’t paste the clipboard context into the cell but shows a “paste” button

(which is initially inactive(greyed out) and only becomes actionable after 1-2s but once it becomes active one can paste.

ctrl+c and ctrl+v don’t suffer from such double step problem..

Thanks for your post. That does not work on my Windows 11 PCs - no paste box appears. This is likely because I have Hints and Tips turned off on my Windows 11 PCs - too annoying. Some boxes appear where I need to make a selection and can’t do so because the box is in the way so I disabled that Microsoft annoyance. It seems doing that unfortunately prevents me from pasting into Collabora with the mouse. I do get the drop down menu for pasting when I right-click with the mouse but nothing happens when I select paste. Ctrl-v, however, does allow pasting, so I can paste - I just cannot do so with the mouse.
