How to stop iphone 11 from saving the files( that I imported on it then edited)onto the cloud? Concentrate to read :) thanks

HI my notes are personnal, I dont want them on the net so no icloud for my notes only on iphone 11

Before I was using android. I have couple dozens of xyz .txt files created by notepad app ( by braden frarber). I have exported them on my win10 in .txt. Then I used apple device to add them to the collabora folder that was created when I installed collabora on my phone.

Please understand that I want to continue to use those old files to add new stuff in the texts while using my iphone. like it I have a .txt file about the place I visited , I want to be able to add new place name to the list I already have.

The save or save as button does not appear for some reason on my collabora iphone and Iinstalled it 1 week ago so recent versions of ios and app. Anyway, It looks like I can not export to .txt so i was thinking of exporting as . odt or rtf.

When I edit one of my old .txt file and export it to .odt, the document is not saved on the iphone as I select and is saved on the icloud instead even though I have gray toggled the app in icould setting. Why is it doing that? I did the steps listed at the end of this post

PS: when I create a new file on my iphone and export to .odt it is saved on the iphone not the icould . That is what I want great . And I would like the old .txt edited into odt to be saved on my phone too.

PPS: Now that would create kind of duplicates or one document in.txt with old notes and another file edited and saved in . odt with the same title, which leads me to think that I might be better off converting all the .txt on my pc into .odt and then transfer them to my iphone WHat do you think? that would make it so that I dont have to delete a .txt file when I export and edited one in .odt AND maybe solve this problem I have with iphone saving the edited files on icould without my conscent

???Auxiliary question: I wonder the pros and cons of switching to .rtf vs .odt? is using .rtf more future proof in the sense that other apps are more compatible with rtf than odt in general? cause There is nothing I need about the .odt especially. Is there a negative side to going with .odt ( i like that i could do table of content if I wised to.. thanks

Method 1: Save Directly to “On My iPhone”

When creating or saving a new document in Collabora:

  1. Tap the File tab/menu in the top left corner.

  2. Select Save As.

  3. In the file selection menu, click the back button or folder icon to navigate to the root directory.

  4. Select “On My iPhone” (or “On My iPad”).

  5. Choose a specific folder within the local storage (e.g., the Collabora App folder) and press Save.

Method 2: Change Default Location in iOS Settings

To stop the app from defaulting to iCloud Drive, you can disable iCloud Drive for that specific app:

  1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.

  2. Tap on your name/Apple ID at the top.

  3. Tap iCloud > iCloud Drive.

  4. Scroll down to find Collabora and toggle it OFF.
Note: This forces the app to default to local storage.
