Adding Canadian language

Hi, I’d like to add the Canadian language because I see that it is missing. I added en_CA, but it doesn’t appear to have completed, “Collabora Online weblate”, perhaps I don’t have the required access permissions. Please will someone help with these steps:

  1. Add the language en_CA,

  2. Copy en_GB to en_CA.

I can then make the necessary edits for Canadian English. I believe these are the steps in more detail:

  1. Add: As a project admin/maintainer, choose the Component (e.g. “UI Strings”), in the component menu, click Manage → Languages. Add new translation. Choose English (Canada) [en_CA].
  2. Copy: In the Languages view for the component, select en_CA, In sidebar → Tools → Copy translations. Select Copy from English (United Kingdom) [en_GB]. Run the copy process.

I will then see if I can make similar language additions to the LibreOffice project for LibreOffice en_languages. https://translations.documentfoundation.org/languages/

Thank you, Rob

Hi @rpear,

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve added the language, but I don’t see an option to copy all the strings. I’m looking for a way to do that, but you can start translating the strings now.

Thanks
Darshan

Hi Darshan, I googled, how about this way:

  1. Download the Source Language: Files > Select the en_GB > download in original format.

  2. Upload to the Target Language: Go to en_CA > Files > Upload translation > Add as approved translation

There is no option present which says upload

@rpear can you please check i did upload some files

Yes 100% of the UI, can you do the rest of the components?

@rpear, I’m afraid LibreOffice core does not currently support this language. Could you please follow up on that?

Meanwhile, I need to make some changes in the online repository, as these changes won’t take effect unless the CODE updates are applied. I’ll need some time for this—sorry, our community resources are very limited at the moment.

Yes I’ll get onto the LibreOffice en_CA language, plus other missing or incomplete en_ languages. Thank you for doing this
