Avoid translation of formula names in Calc when the UI language is not English

When the UI is localized, formula names in Spreadsheet documents are translated. E.g. when the UI is in Spanish, the function SUM() becomes SUMA(). This is confusing for many users who expect function names to be consistent across localizations.

The desktop version of LibreOffice has a checkbox under Options --> LibreOffice Calc --> Formula to Use English function names. I haven’t been able to find this option in Collabora, is this configurable?

I just encountered this as well, it would be a very nice option to change formulas to english if running a localized UI language.

hii @flindeberg first of all Welcome to collabora online forums

That’s a very nice feature request — thank you for bringing it up! Collabora Online currently doesn’t expose the “Use English function names” setting like LibreOffice desktop does. This could definitely help users working across different localizations.

Could you please open a GitHub issue for this? That will make it much easier for us to track and prioritize. You can open it here: GitHub · Where software is built

Thanks again!
