After updating Collabora Office to 26.04 on Windows 10 here are some problems/quirks/suggestions
-
I understand why the Windows “installer” calls the Microsoft Store but if people want to use Collabora Office perhaps it is because they are trying to escape Microsoft’s ways… I think that an independent full installer download directly from Collabora would be more trusted (at least for some users). So maybe provide that option?

It is odd that there is no way to check which version of CO is running without opening a document and selecting Help > About. Maybe add some About button or version number to the Start Center?

The Start Center window (in Windows) is reused when a document is opened and closing the document will obviously close the whole program. The way it works under Linux is more logic: the Start Center is a separate window which allows to open previous documents or create new ones, but the Start window is always open until the user closes it. I believe it would be better to make this consistent across platforms following the behavior used in Linux

The CO UI automatically uses the OS language (and I can not find a way to change it to English?) but it is not fully translated (at least to Portuguese from Portugal) so the UI is currently a mix of Portuguese and English (see screenshot in the next point). I’m sure that the translation teams are working on this.

Some text elements overlap
- And finally: The Save button is hard to spot and doesn’t always switch to “modified” mode (e.g. after a deletion). Autosave is working perfectly, so this is not a real problem but for old timers like myself it is more reassuring to have a more visible indicator that the document was properly saved
I think that solving these general issues would improve the usability. Thanks!
