OOXML compatibility proper way for bug report

I’ve recently made a presentation in MS Office (M365) and looked at how CO (Classic, Version: 25.04.10.20260515) would handle it and I found various bugs with displaying various parts of the presentation, with converting it to ODF and how that seems to interfere in some cases with how things are displayed and I’ve noticed at least one SVG rendering bug entirely independent of OOXML (i.e. it even shows up when just importing the image in a new empty presentation).

What would be the preferred way of reporting these issues as I’d prefer not to publicly share the original presentation? For me the simplest way would be to make a PDF of the presentation from within PowerPoint, try to get the same issues show up in a PDF export from CO (or otherwise make screenshots), convert the presentation to ODF, make a PDF version of that and send all these files in privately with a description of what issues I’ve noticed. This would even allow the devs to notice bugs that I haven’t noticed. The alternative would be to try to recreate the issues in sample presentations that don’t show any of the original parts of the presentation and post them on GitHub.

Is there a way to privately send in the files showing the bugs?

Hi @Artim96 welcome to collabora office forum

Thanks a lot for the detailed report, it is very much appreciated.

If possible, it would be very helpful if you could create a smaller sample document without sensitive/private information and open a public GitHub issue for it, so the wider community can also see the issue and help investigate/test it.

But yes, if you are more comfortable sharing the original presentation privately, that is absolutely fine too. You can send me a private message on the forum with the files, or email them to:

darshan.upadhyay@collabora.com

Including the PDF exports/screenshots and notes about the rendering differences would be extremely helpful.

Thanks, I’ll do both, as I can’t easily reproduce all issues. Is Issues · CollaboraOnline/online · GitHub the right place to file the bug report, even though I’m using CO Classic instead of the Collabora Online-based Office?

Yes you can report on Github
