Found ‘special numbers’ option recognizes currency values. Not obvious, no prompt.
The default ‘scientific notation’ option does not recognize currency data. After importing, requires manual editing to convert from text. When currency format applied to the imported data, it inserts an apostrophe prefix to retain data as text.
