Support for classic extensions in Collabora Online for Desktop?

I downloaded the new Collabora Online for Desktop, granted it does look way more polished compared to the classic and LibreOffice. However almost immediately after a short time just clicking around and testing menus I cannot find a way to install third party extensions, for example support for citation tools like Zotero. All though Zotero is not officially supported on the old Classic, the plugin still works since it has a very similar code base as LibreOffice.

Will this be supported in the future? Zotero is part of my work flow, but I am sure we will find a lot of other use cases reliant upon other 3rd party extensions.

Hi @Zalaru

Thanks a lot for your feedback, and great to hear that you like the polished UI in the new Collabora Office for Desktop.

Collabora Office Desktop is essentially a desktop build of Collabora Online. it doesn’t currently include all the extension-related functionality that LibreOffice Desktop provides. As a result, installing third-party extensions isn’t supported at the moment.

If this is important for your workflow, we’d definitely recommend opening a feature request in the Collabora Online GitHub repository so the team can track interest and consider it for future updates. GitHub · Where software is built
