Hi Collabora Team,
I have a question regarding the user/concurrent connection limitations in the free Collabora Online Development Edition (CODE).
We are currently integrating Collabora Online into our application and running Collabora CODE in an Azure Container. We are using Collabora Online version 26.04.2.4.
Our application supports editing documents such as Word (DOCX), Excel (XLSX), PowerPoint (PPTX), ODT/ODS/ODP, and other supported formats through Collabora.
I found an older official Collabora release announcement from 2019 (CODE 4.2.0) that mentioned:
“CODE warns users that they might want support after 10 concurrent documents or 20 concurrent users.”
Reference:
I also found a later discussion on the Collabora forum where it was stated that:
“There are no limitations of documents / connections in CODE anymore.”
Reference:
I would like to clarify the current behavior for the latest CODE version.
If we use the free CODE version in our Azure Container and our application grows to 30, 50, 100, or even 1,000 users, is there any hard limitation on the number of users or concurrent connections/documents?
For example, if 1,000 users are using our application and many of them are simultaneously opening/editing documents through Collabora, will the free CODE version:
-
Restrict the number of concurrent users or connections?
-
Restrict the number of concurrently opened documents?
-
Stop allowing additional users after reaching a specific limit?
-
Have any other licensing or technical limitation related specifically to the number of users?
I understand that server CPU, RAM, and overall infrastructure capacity can affect performance. My question is specifically whether the free CODE version itself has any fixed user/concurrent connection/document restriction, similar to the old 10-document / 20-user restriction mentioned in the 2019 release.
Could you please confirm whether this restriction still applies to CODE 26.04.2.4, and if there are any current limits for a large number of concurrent users?
Also, does Home Mode have any different user or connection limitations that we should be aware of when running CODE in an Azure Container?
Thank you for clarifying this.
