Replacement fonts for Segoe Light and Segoe UI

Hi,

Case a document contains fonts like Segoe, Segoe UI and Segoe Light we have an open issue on showing the fonts is not available or replaced as There should be a notification if font used in a file is not available, and it is substituted.

Currently the font in CODE (latest build) just show as it it’s available. What is the fallback font that is uses in such case? The Fonts documentation does not seem to refer to such.

When opening the document in LibreOffice (on Windows 11) the fonts shows as not available;

Since the text appears visually different between CODE and LO (25.2 and 25.8 beta) this indicated CODE seems to do some replacemenent here?

This also makes me wonder why OnlyOffice (as does MS Office (-obviously-)) does seem to have (access) to this font as it looks to be bundled with MS Office as Windows Fonts itself do not list Segoe as an available font.

OnlyOffice does render the text the same as MS Offece and show the fonts as availabe.

Hi Darshan,

Thx, doing fine while trying to keep up with some bug reporting and Dutch translations:) Hope you are fine too. Thanks for reporting this in the call, it’s unclear to me how the font replaceme works as I also posted in the forums. This has quite some influence on how documents show in LO/CODE vs MS Office and even OnlyOffice. Maybe we not only should show in CODE missing fonts and a replacement overview as I suggested but also an option for the user to select preferred replacements as adding fonts now it an global setting (set as an Nextcloud administrator for all users). So after addings additional fonts it’s now unclear which font gets replaced.

Hope that helps. Hope when I have more time in my schedule I can start joining the calls.
