Some feedback after few months of use of collaboraonline through shadowdrive

Hello,
with the somewhat recent integration of collaboraonline in the nextcloud package of shadowonline, I had the oportunity to use the tool for some light document editing (mostly administrative document and entering data in spreadsheet) and i can give you some feedback.

Overall
The experience on PC browser is nice. We have advanced features and a full pledge calc (contrary to GSheet for example) and integration to the nextcloud storage is nice to use. However this becomes more frustrating when I use this with my tablet through the shadowdrive application. As I don’t know if the issues I have are on their side or on yours i give the full feedback on both parts and we will see what happens.

My setup is :

  • Samsung Galaxy tab S10+ with cover slim
  • Samusing Galaxy S21

Writer
I do not remember having issues with writer, but I did not explored a lot here. The only thing is that I need to save my document so that my modifications are taken into account. It may seem “normal” as a libreoffice desktop user, but here I have a tablet and a SaaS solution, noone does that and there are many reasons of that. I think having the “auto save” feature activated by default can be a good thing.

Calc

My biggest issue is : the application does not answer as expected when I use my keyboard, may it be in the browser (firefox for android) or with the application. For example, let’s say I’m in edit mode. I entered a cell, I added my value and now I want to put a value into the next cell.
In libreoffice I type on “tab”, and then I enter my value.
Here, it just does not work I need to re-enter everything.

We can add that “entering the edit mode” may… reset the scroll, so if I am at row 120, I activate edit mode… i get bag to row 1 and here we go for scrolling.

Before ending the feedback, I really want to thank the collaboraonline team to put libreoffice as a SaaS offer, we really need such a piece of software. Like I said, I will also send my feedback to shadowdrive team. Hopping it will help you.

PS: I’m french, if you think my english is not good enough I can switch back to french.
