So I’m just trying out LibreOffice and Collabora for the first time: LibreOffice on my computer, and Collabora on my phone. Typically I do the vast majority of my writing in Google Docs on my phone. Docs has an option to turn off “print layout” so that the text wraps to the width of the phone screen, whether in portrait or landscape mode. Does Collabora have anything like that? If it does, I’m having trouble finding it. I’d like to use Google less, but scrolling side-to-side or zooming out so small I can’t read the text are both a big downgrade in user experience on the phone. Very much hoping this is a simple toggle somewhere that I’m just not seeing!
There is no setting like this at present no. There is a ‘web layout’ feature in the writer core that could be worked on and shaped into a reading view as you describe - but that’s quite a chunk of work - if you’d like to experiment with and/or work on that I’d be happy to point you to the code.
That’s very kind of you to offer but light-years beyond my capability, I’m afraid. My skill level is “feeling extremely proud of myself for successfully porting a few favorite fonts into LibreOffice.”
Thank you for answering my question!
Hey @saxbrightwell. Welcome to the forum and thanks for the question.
One thing you can do is edit the “Page Size” temporarily.
On Android, if you:
- Press the Three-Line Menu
- Press “Page Setup”
You can then change the:
- Width
- Height
- Orientation
- Margins
So, you could do something like:
- Width = 4"
- Height = 6"
- Margins = Narrow
This might make editing documents on your phone a bit easier.
