I see how to create a custom style, but I would like to create a custom template. I teach classes where I use a specific set of text styles. Is there a way to create a template? I haven’t had much luck with that so far.
hi @gself
There is no dedicated “Template Manager” UI in Collabora Online like desktop LibreOffice
recommended workflow
- Create the template in LibreOffice Desktop (strongly recommended)
- Open LibreOffice Writer
- Define all your custom styles:
- Paragraph styles
- Character styles
- Page styles
- Make sure everything is exactly how you want it for class use
- Save as a template
- File → Templates → Save as Template
- Or save as
.ott(Writer template)
- Upload the template to your cloud storage
- Nextcloud / ownCloud / Seafile etc.
- Use it in Collabora Online
- Open the
.otttemplate in Collabora Online - Create a new document from it
- All styles will be available and usable
This is the most reliable and supported way.
@gself I was wondering if you’ve already tried the new Collabora Office. If not, please give it a try. It’s available both online and on the desktop.
Thank you for you response. This is the easiest way I could imagine to create a custom template. I already have several LibreOffice templates I use for various projects. I just hadn’t thought about saving them in some common folder that I could access from both LibreOffice and Collabora. Since I use Collabora Desktop, it will be easy for me to store these on my local hard drive and use them as needed. Thanks, again, for your simple solution to a problem that’s be vexing me for some time.
