Is it possible to insert line break within a cell?

In Libreoffice windows, we can use ctrl + enter to insert line break within a cell in a spreadsheet.

What to do to insert line break within a cell in Collabora office Android?

Clicking on enter/return key on the on-screen keyboard takes me to the next cell in column.

I tried the following keyboards (hoping they would give a separate button to insert line break but none of them do so): Heliboard, Florisboard and Samsung keyboard.

I tried using formula bar to insert line break but couldn’t be successful:

  1. Selecting a cell> moving cursor in formula bar to end of line> hitting enter/return. This also takes me to the below cell.
  2. Selecting a cell> long pressing on formula bar (this makes a different colored cursor appear)> moving cursor in formula bar to end of line> hitting enter/return. This inserts line break in formula bar but isn’t visible in the cell and even after hitting save, when I move to another cell, no visible change happens to the previous cell and its formula bar content remains unchanged too.

Device’s OS: Android 14.

Collabora office version: 24.04.9.2 .

Please help.

  1. Keyboard Shortcut:

    • Use Shift + Enter instead of Enter/Return. This inserts a line break within the current cell rather than moving to the next cell.

  2. Formula Bar:

    • If you’re editing in the formula bar:
      • Click the cell you want to edit.
      • Move the cursor to the position where you want the line break in the formula bar.
      • Use Shift + Enter to insert the line break.

  3. On-Screen Keyboard (Android):

    • Unfortunately, on some on-screen keyboards, the Shift + Enter combination might not be available directly. In such cases:
      • Use a Bluetooth or USB keyboard to access Shift + Enter functionality.
      • Alternatively, you can paste a line break character (created in another app) into the cell or formula bar.

Using a physical keyboard can’t be a solution to this problem as the reason why I use collabora office on mobile device is portability and on the go usage which can’t happen if I have to use physical keyboard.

Yes, this works: copying writing in another app and copying the content from there and clicking ‘paste’ when the cursor inside the cell is visible.
But ofc this is not ideal as will have to move back & forth repeatedly. I really wish there would be way to insert line break within collabora office android app itself.

Where can I submit a feature request for it?
